Devon Kitchen and Snug Extension

A local builder wanted to incorporate a large TV and premium audio system into his kitchen extension—but without the technology overpowering the design of the space. His vision was to create a modern, stylish media wall that blended effortlessly into the surroundings while offering high-quality surround sound and an intuitive music system for everyday use and entertaining. 

The project presented several key requirements:

• A TV that recessed into the end wall, keeping the installation sleek and unobtrusive.
• Hidden equipment to maintain a clean, modern aesthetic.
• Flexible, high-performance audio, including surround sound for the living area and an effortless music system for the kitchen and dining space.
• Simple, seamless control, ensuring easy operation without extra remotes or complicated interfaces.
• Optimised WiFi performance to enhance connectivity across the home and improve Sky Q system reliability.

To achieve this, we engineered a discreet yet powerful setup:

• The TV was recessed into the end wall, with all equipment hidden behind it for a streamlined look.
• A Bluesound Soundbar+ was selected for its fantastic audio quality and seamless integration with the TV and Sky Q remote.
• Speakers were concealed behind a removable acoustic fabric panel, allowing for a sleek design without compromising sound performance.
• Creative subwoofer placement ensured deep, rich bass while making the best use of available space.
• In-ceiling speakers were installed behind the sofa for immersive surround sound, with additional pairs placed in the kitchen-dining area to enhance music playback for daily use and entertaining.
• A touchscreen keypad near the kitchen door enabled effortless control of radio stations and Spotify playlists—eliminating the need to pull out a phone to adjust volume or change tracks.
• Strategic WiFi enhancements were made throughout the home, incorporating additional network cabling and a reliable WiFi mesh system to improve overall connectivity and Sky Q functionality.

The final installation delivered stylish technology that enhances daily life without dominating the space. The sleek media wall and hidden equipment allow the room’s aesthetics to take centre stage, while the high-performance sound system provides a rich, immersive experience for both movies and music.

The intuitive touchscreen controls make music playback effortless, and the improved WiFi infrastructure ensures reliable streaming and seamless operation throughout the home.
