Basement Home Cinema

A young couple dreamed of transforming their basement into a private home cinema, initially envisioning a simple setup with a TV on the wall and a few speakers. However, after discussions, they realised the potential to create a space that was not only beautifully designed but outperformed even commercial cinemas in audio and visual quality. 

Their requirements included:

• A clean and simple aesthetic, without feeling dull.
• Comfortable seating for four people in a compact space.
• A low ceiling, posing challenges for sound clarity and reflections.
• The ability to watch films, TV series, and occasionally game with an immersive experience.

Understanding their vision, we worked up a detailed brief and engineered every aspect of the design:

• Acoustic treatments were installed behind elegant fabric wall panels to control unwanted sound reflections.
• Hidden B&W Reference speaker systems ensured top-tier audio performance while maintaining a seamless look.
• Sony ultra-high definition laser projector for incredible visual quality and accuracy.
• Every element, from screen size to speaker placement, was meticulously designed for optimal viewing and listening.
• A Halo fabric wall panel system integrated warm white LED lighting in groups, creating a cosy, cinematic ambiance.
• Simple one-touch lighting controls ensured effortless scene-setting every time.
• Electric reclining cinema seating was carefully selected to fit within the room’s dimensions while maximising comfort.
