BESPOKE INSTALLATIONS: A LEGACY OF INNOVATION AND CRAFTSMANSHIP
Bespoke Installations was officially founded in 2002 in Tiverton, Devon, but its roots trace back much further—shaped by a lifelong passion for technology and design.
It all started in 1980, with a bedroom transformed into a testing ground for creative ideas. Speakers were strategically placed, custom-installed beneath a captain’s bed for maximum impact. Lighting experiments followed—though not always appreciated by his parents, especially given they involved mains electricity. The ingenuity continued outside, where tree-mounted lights were controlled from his bedroom, and a custom sensor on the back gate alerted him to visitors—though the early prototype proved a little too effective when the milkman set off a 5:30 a.m. alarm!
From there, innovation took on new forms. A DIY remote control for a Sanyo VCR, crafted before infrared technology was commonplace, became a family favourite. In school, teachers quickly recognised his talent, allowing him to turn limited equipment into spectacular sound and lighting displays for productions and local arts groups. Early programming on the BBC Computer further sharpened his technical skills.
Over time, he honed expertise in theatrical lighting and audio systems, before transitioning into electrical engineering. This experience proved invaluable, laying the foundation for a specialist approach to custom electronic systems for both homes and businesses.
By 2005, Bespoke Installations had solidified its industry standing, becoming a full CEDIA member, reinforcing its reputation for excellence in professional custom installation. A number of years were spent on the Education Committee helping to draft the very first CEDIA Smart Home Wiring Guidelines.
Now, in its 23rd year, Bespoke Installations continues to push boundaries—designing and installing top-tier technology solutions that blend functionality, performance, and aesthetics across both residential and commercial projects. From discreet, high-performance home cinemas to seamless smart technology integrations, the journey that began in a childhood bedroom has grown into a business defined by expertise, creativity, and precision.
